Helping FL Keys Hurricane Victims

Hi everyone. Mikey and I have decided that we are going to leave this coming Sunday from New Orleans (Sept. 24th) for the Florida Keys, my hometown, to help folks who have been impacted by Hurricane Irma. We have been in contact with our good friend Richmond (currently living in Islamorada and rode out the storm) who indicated that the best way to help right now is with cleanup efforts and that is what we intend to do. We will be hauling a flat bed trailer with our truck down there loaded with yard equipment and other cleaning supplies. So far Mikey's father-in-law, Mike French, will be donating a 55 gallon drum of fuel, which we will give out to anyone who needs it. We have heard that fuel availability is patchy. Paul Guidry, a family friend, is also donating a palette of bottled water we will distribute to anyone and everyone who needs it. We plan to use funds raised through this GoFundMe to purchase cleaning equipment (face masks, gloves, bleach, dog food for animals wandering the streets, heavy duty garbage bags, etc.). We also are currently attempting to find out other, more specific needs for folks  in the hardest hit areas (diapers, baby food/formula, over the counter medication, feminine needs, etc). We will also be buying lumber to help rebuild some horse stalls in Islamorada.  Any extra money leftover will be donated to a family in need. Our plan is to be in Islamorada by Monday. We will spend a few days there cleaning up between Islamorada and Big Pine Key. We then plan to spend a couple of days in Key West helping out friends there and in the area (Cudjoe Key, Sugarloaf, Summerland, etc) who need it. We will then likely come back up to Islamorada and help out again before we head back to New Orleans. We know this is short notice, but any amount of funds you can donate would be highly appreciated. I will be using my personal credit card to buy supplies and reimbursing it with donated funds. This is personal to both of us, as we both have lived in the Keys, and know people who have been personally affected by this storm. Please consider helping our cause. Thanks y'all!!!
