Helping Elliott:

Life can be a regular kick in the teeth some days, even when we are trying to do our best. I have had these days, and my friends have pulled me through many of them. I want to do the same for my Special Education teacher Elliott.

Elliott purchased an older home in Parksville. A fixer-uper. With the current economy, it is the only recourse for families to provide for themselves. But this old home is in rough state, so Elliott has had to do extensive renovations, not for upgrades, but for basic health and safety. His wife and four young children, all pre-schoolers have had to stay out-of-province with their grandparents in order that Elliott could do the renovations. The task has been so arduous, that at times Elliott has had to camp in his own home without heat, in order to strive towards getting his home prepared to bring his family home.

Then Elliot got robbed. How could this happen to a man following his faith in God and following his calling as provider? Elliott was in a clear struggle with this old house, and I can only feel great empathy and respect for his struggle, so I prayed for understanding, and the answer was clear. God has given Elliott a struggle that he cannot do alone. His humility is such that it hurts him to recognize that he needs our help. This is a difficult task that God puts on all of us as Christians, and that is to be willing to accept help.

I am initiating this GoFundme to honour God, before I honour Elliott. We have been called to this. “Carry each other's burdens and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2

Elliott has been faithful and has consistently demonstrated himself to my two young teens as someone who walks in faith as a man and as a father, and this has been especially important. It is something I could not provide to my sons as a single mom and is indeed an answer to prayer for us, so that my sons have a male mentor in Christ.

Elliott really needs enough funds to temporarily hire a couple of skilled trades people, just to get him over this hurdle of making his home safe, so he can bring his family home. He told his wife he would not shave until she got home, and he is looking pretty scruffy. So I hope you will rally around this cause, and support this GoFundme. I can assure you that many good works will come from this man and his family in the lives of many families to come, but he needs our help now.

Most Sincerely, Caroline Alexander (Breven and Chad)
