Dr. Jessee is a Veterinarian in Duffield, Virginia. She is a sweet, caring, and kind soul who would never ask for help for herself. She would prefer to buckle down, work 60 hours a week, earn it herself, and not trouble anyone. She has lost both of her parents in recent years, and is still healing. She and Brad found each other, and have been each other's angels. Brad was diagnosed with glioblastoma a little over a year ago. His condition is not good. Dr. Jessee needs our help. She needs our financial support to keep her hometown vet clinic open as she and Brad seek treatment that will require them to be away from home for long periods. She and Brad also need financial assistance for traveling, lodging, fuel, food, and other expenses associated with fighting this horrific type of cancer. Brad Wardlaw 52 y/o. Diagnosed with Glioblastoma (GBM) (Grade 4 brain cancer) September 2018. Currently there is no cure for GBM and the median survival time is 15-18 months. Brad is a special education teacher and worked up until Thanksgiving 2019. He is hoping to be able to return to work but that is not currently possible. Brad had surgery September 22nd 2018 at Vanderbilt to remove the mass from his left temporal lobe. He did the standard of care which included 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. In March 2019 it was determined that the tumor had returned and he was placed on an infusion of Avastin every 2 weeks and oral chemo every 6 weeks. We travel to Vanderbilt Ingram cancer center every 2 weeks for his treatment. He must have an MRI every 2 months for monitoring. In addition Brad wears a device called Optune that is an FDA approved treatment for GBM. The report for his last MRI indicated possible tumor recurrence. He is now having a follow up MRI in 2weeks. Because of the possible of recurrence Brad’s doctors have suggested a second opinion from Duke medical center to determine if there is a clinical trial he will qualify for or an additional treatment that might be of benefit to treating Brads cancer.
