Helping Deb and Vic

Donation protected

For almost 30 years, Deb Kurynny worked for Phi Kappa Sigma and has been one of the Fraternity's most steadfast supporters.  In the same regard, she and her family have opened their home to many staff members and volunteers over the years.

After relocated the headquarters to Indiana, Deb began to transition into a soft retirement, remaining a staff member to assist remotely with side projects and consult staff on how things should be done. Her breadth of knowledge and input has been invaluable.

However, her transition into semi-retirement took an unexpected turn just around Christmas when her husband, Vic (Drexel '96), was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

For those of you who never had the opportunity to meet Vic at Grand Chapter or other Phi Kap events, he is a compassionate and dedicated husband, father, and Phi Kap.  Vic was the local handyman and landscaper at the old headquarters and has always been eager to see the Fraternity succeed.

Hospital Stay & Diagnosis
As a Vietnam veteran, Vic is fortunate enough to be receiving treatment at the VA Hospital; however, the costs of his treatment presents a challenge, to say the least.

His double-expressor diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL)  is an extraordinarily aggressive lymphoma and  more difficult to treat than other common types.  It requires a special blend of chemotherapy - one that he cannot receive at his local hospital.

Vic's lymphoma is closely correlated with frequent exposure to Agent Orange while he was working on aircrafts like the C-123 which carried the chemical for defoliating during the war.

How you can help!
Besides medical costs, there are additional expenses for Deb and her family, including travel, as far away as Oregon, in the case of eldest son Justin.

We want to ease the financial burden placed on the Kurynny family in this difficult time.  The Kurynny family has been among the most committed to Phi Kappa Sigma, and we are looking to show them what our organization's lifelong brotherhood means.

Please consider a gift of any amount or if you would like to send Vic and Deb a card, you may send it to the Fraternity's headquarters to be forwarded to them:
