Hello all! my name is Kathrine and I am making this go-fund me in hopes that someone is able to help my father.
My dad is a 50-year-old hard-working blue-collar man who never asks for help, even when he probably should.
He has been working full time since he was 13 years old, becoming the youngest certified spray foam installer in Canadian history, and has been in the spray foam industry since, for over 35 years.
On November 13th, 2025, my dad suffered a stroke while he was at work, he was rushed to the hospital and thankfully survived with minimal issues due to the quick medical response and honesty pure luck.
The type of stroke that he had is very dangerous, and the nurses and doctors were shocked that he did not have further damage.
Now to the reason we are asking for help, although he is very lucky in his after affects, they are not non-existent. In January of 2024 we moved to Cape Breton Nova Scotia.
Since my dad has been in trades for such a long time and can redo homes on his own, my parents bought a house that needed to be completely redone top to bottom
( I mean GUTTED, which we did all ourselves).
For the last almost 2 years we have been slowly redoing our house weekend by weekend and living in an unfinished construction zone.
When we arrived, we found out we needed to completely rewire our house, we hired an electrician to re-wire everything and we were horribly scammed.
Not only were we out the amount that we paid him, (we are currently waiting on the judgement back on our small claim court case for this amount) as well as paying a lot more to get it redone properly, it ended up costing us almost 15,000$ all together, and it tightened our budget for the rest of the house.
We currently have a lot to finish like the kitchen, laundry room, upstairs and downstairs hall, upstairs bedroom dry wall, as well as the actual finishing of those rooms (the cabinets, sink and etc. in the kitchen, finishing the bathroom, and the rooms upstairs).
Unfortunately, since my dad has had his stroke, he is unable to do the physical things required to finish the house, and since my dad hates to have things unfinished it is causing him more stress than a stroke victim should probably have.
He is unable to go up on a ladder due to his balance and strength, which is a big change from him moving ladders without having to get off, which he could do with no problem, up to his stroke.
His upper body strength, grip strength and coordination is not good enough to be able to lift and do the non-ladder work isn’t quite there yet and will take some time to fully recover.
What this means is we now have to pay for a contractor to come in and finish our home, instead of my father doing it on the weekends.
We are asking for any help that you are willing to give, even just a single dollar from lots of people can help us come closer to our goal and finish our house so that my dad can recover from his stroke without the stress of having to do it himself, or stress about how we will possibly pay for it.
If there is any help you can offer us, to get the work done that my father is no longer able to do, we would be forever grateful for the help.
if you have any questions or would like some more details about Dave or his story, please reach out to me at [email redacted]
