Helping Catrina Beat Breast Cancer

As most of her family and friends already know, earlier this year Catrina McKinney was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer.
Catrina has been employed by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office for the past 26 years. She has recently been off work dealing with a work related injury when this diagnosis was made. Now, in addition to dealing with treatment for two ruptured disks in her back, she has been tasked with this as well.
She is currently healing from a mastectomy recently performed at UCSF Medical Center. At her first post-operative appointment, she was informed that this surgery would not to be the end of her battle.
Unfortunately one of her lymph nodes tested positive. She was informed that her cancer had been upgraded to stage 3 of a rare form of cancer called metaplastic carcinoma and will have to be fought with heavy hitting chemotherapy treatment for several months followed by radiation.
The coming weeks will be filled with appointments as she is still having some post-operative issues from her surgery. She will also have pre-chemotherapy testing, bone scans, and placement of a medication port.
In addition, she will have follow-up surgery appointments every few weeks for the next several months at UCSF. The costs that come along with cancer treatment as well as frequent travel to and from San Francisco will continue to grow.
We pray not only for a full recovery, but also that God will ease and carry the burden of every fear, pain, emotion, and anxiety that Catrina and her family will face in the coming months. We can all join together to be the hands and feet that will help her along when the physical, emotional, and financial strain seem too heavy to carry.
Catrina is a beautiful and thoughtful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and a loyal friend. She is loved by so many and we know she will not fight this battle alone!
