Support Carri on Her Journey to Walk Again.

On October 11th it was a normal weekend of house chores for Carri and her fiance David. Carri a mother of four beautiful children, enjoys spending time doing yard work at their home they recently have purchased. Unfortunately, this day of yard work has now changed Carri's life forever.
While mowing the lawn near a metal construction rack on their riding mower, Carri misjudged the direction of the mower and her leg was lacerated by the metal rack going through her skin while shattering her tibia and fibula bones. Carri was thankfully not home alone and was rushed to an emergency room by her fiance David. She was then rushed to a different hospital by ambulance directly into surgery to do everything they could to save her leg.
After undergoing this surgery and a week in the hospital she was sent home to heal and recover.
After weeks of physical therapy and the recovery process unfortunately, Carri's injuries were not healing as expected. Carri started to notice a section of her leg was not healing and her fear of infection had started. Carri started to run a fever and was rushed again back to the hospital for a 2nd surgery to hopefully clean out any infection. After consulting with a team of doctors it was decided that she needed to be brought to the trauma center in Fort Myers to undergo additional surgeries by trauma specialist. After Carri's 3rd surgery she received devastating news from the doctors that she would need to have her leg amputated above the knee.
This turn of events has left Carri and her family with a mixture of emotions that she hasn't had the time to process. We know that this journey in not going to be easy however, we want to take away some of the financial burden and stress during this time. We also want to make sure she has the ability to purchase a proper prosthetic leg to allow her to walk again. The average cost of a prosthetic leg above the knee is $50,000.
We are all standing behind Carri while she takes "One step at a time" towards her new normal. Although this is very hard we thank God that Carri is still here and that she will now be on the road to recovery. We Love you Carri!
