Willow Welle was born on November 14, 2017. With first the mother having to have surgery immediately after the birth it was noticed that little Willow was struggling. For 21 days of her life doctor after doctor couldn't find why she was throwing up yellow bile and losing weight. On her 22nd day of life she went to a Cardiologist to rule out her heart. The cardiologist recommended an ultra sound because she saw no signs of a heart problem. One hour later she received an ultra sound and due to the expertise of the doctor of radiology found that she was in dire destress and contacted the Pediatric Surgeon. Beautiful little Willow was taken into emergency surgery for malrotation. In short..all her intestines were twisted and on the verge of bursting. Willow was taken into immediate surgery for 3 hours to untangle her small and large intestines. After surgery the doctor stated she was a very lucky girl and she wouldn't have made it much longer going untreated.
Complications started almost 24 hours after surgery. Willow's little veins were to small and weak that her veins couldn't sustain an IV for too long. Without an IV she could not receive any pain medication or any nutrients her body needed to stay alive. Over a 2 day period the medical staff poked and poked on this little soul. They were able to get an IV into her scalp but it wasn't too long before that IV failed as well. Again they went back to poking her sensitive skin but and IV would not sustain on her little weak body. It was imperative that this little body needed her pain medication and food. As a last resort Willow had to undergo two more surgery's to finally put a central line into her neck and she was place in NICU.
The hardship of the surgeries on this family has been overwhelming. The cost of the birth, medical treatment, traveling expenses, food and time off of work has brought this family into dire straits. They are looking at thousands and thousands of dollars. Please donate to help elevate some stress of current and up coming bills so they can just focus on recovery and bringing this beautiful little human home.
