Helping Al Diaz Defeat Waldenström’s Cancer

On Monday July 8, 2019 my father, Al Diaz Jr., was admitted into the ER at Memorial Hospital West after a persistent 5.5 hour nosebleed. They found that he was anemic, and had a red blood cell count of only 6.1mg/dcl, which was extremely low, and other abnormalities with his bloodwork, so they admitted over night.


Today, July 11th, the Doctors came in and told us that they were 95% certain that my dad, Al Diaz Jr., either has Multiple Myeloma or Waldenström’s Macroglobulinemia (WM). They are planning to start treatment immediately as soon as they get results from the lab later today.


This is where we need your help. My dad started a new job June 17th, and does not have health insurance. 


The hospital stay alone will cost more than $100,000 because of all the tests they’ve done. He is also most likely not getting paid for this week, so the family will struggle to pay the bills until he is able to get back to work.


So we need to raise money to pay for his hospital stay, and for future cancer treatments.
