Helping a Selfless Dad AND Son
Donation protected
Last Friday June 8th in the evening, my cousin Jerry Crawford was in a very bad motorcycle accident. As a result, he was badly injured and needed several surgeries. One injury in particular, required a decision that needed to be made by my Uncle Ted (Jerry's Dad). A decison that no one person should ever need to make. However, that one outcome of my Uncle Ted's decison, would keep his son alive.
As I immeditiately drove to the hospital to support my family, little did I imagine the kind of impact I would experience in the coming days.
First and foremost, I am thankful to everyone who rushed to be by Jerry's side. Watching my family come together and surround Jerry with their love, tears and support in prayer, was heartfelt.
However, the most important part of this whole experience is how my Uncle Ted has handled this whole trauma thus far. I was sitting in the ICU room watching my Uncle comfort his son by gently touching his skin and letting him know everything will be alright. "you will pull through this, you're a fighter", my Uncle said. It hasn't even been 16 hours and my Uncle is overwhelmed with people trying to call and text him every minute. The nurses needed tons of questions answered. You can see it in his face, he was so overwhelmed, but he never gave up.
For those that do not know my Uncle Ted, he is the most selfless, God-giving, loving, helpful, hard-working father and grandfather out there ever known. He is a father who is trying to support his son who is unable to support his own family because of this horiffic accident.
My Uncle only gets paid when he works. How can he work when his son is lying in ICU? Both Son and Dad have financial obligations, but cannot work due to this accident. Jerry's recovery time will take many months if not years.
I am kindly asking for your support towards helping my Uncle get through this difficult time (God-willing). Any donation helps a long way. Specifically, travel funds because the hospital is 1 hour away from where they live.
On behalf of our entire family, we appreciate your thoughtfulness and continued prayers.
