Helping a Good Man, a Good Neighbor, a Good Friend

I would like to introduce a good, hardworking man. A man who works hard to help others. A man who regularly sacrifices and rarely complains.
Earlier this year, Russell started having back pain and numbness in his legs. After numerous visits to specialists of all kinds, spanning several months, he will finally be able to have spine surgery, in hopes of improving his condition. Sadly, the family is already buried under a mountain of medical bills.
Several months ago, Russell's 10-year-old daughter had to be hospitalized. She could not eat and could not keep any food down. She has been placed on a feeding tube.
For the past eight years, Russell has been the sole provider for his family. At that time his wife had a seizure while driving. She and the kids miraculously survived the accident, but continuing seizures have left her unable to drive and unable to work.
I have just learned that this amazing dad and his family did not have a Christmas this year. They are just trying to get by. Russell spends all of his time, energy, and enthusiasm supporting others. He organizes community events, volunteers time with his church, and giant slip-and-slide parties for all the kids in the neighborhood. He is a leader in his profession (sales/customer service) and devotes much of his time to helping his colleagues to succeed.
This man is my youngest brother. This has been going on for months and I have just learned about his current situation. Not because I am oblivious, but because Russell doesn't complain and because Russell has been doing all in his power to take care of these challenges himself.
Back problems have severely limited his ability to work. His disability claim has been denied and for the last five months, they have been living off their dwindling savings. When the family learned and asked what could be done for his kids for Christmas the requests were simple. Waterproof winter gloves so his kids could play outside at recess and shoes for church.
This good man will do anything for anybody. He is a man who believes in second chances, and third, fourth, and so on. He does not consider if you have any skeletons in the closet, but if it is in his power, he will do all he can to lift you until you can take care of yourself. That's the kind of man he is.
I don't have many contacts on Facebook, so I hope others will see this story and will share. We need more people in this world like Russell. I once told him he should go into politics. He was offended, thinking I was saying that he was somehow crooked. No, I told him, but because he cared so much about others, so much about his community, and that maybe he could make a difference and he was the kind of leader we needed.
We don't have much. In 2016 when our local economy crashed, my husband took a 50% pay cut when he had to find a new job. Just as we began to stabilize, along came 2020 and another job loss. He's now working two jobs so we can make the mortgage payment every month. We still had a little bit of stimulus money left so this morning I sent a check for $250, maybe enough to make a dent in a utility bill, but hopefully, I can send more soon. Please help me to help this humble man and his family. I know we are all struggling at this time. Please help if you can. If not, please share on your feed so that others will see and share.
