Once in a blue moon comes a chance to truly make a difference in the life of a rare individual who has dedicated her life to making a positive difference for others. Ilfra Halley (age 75) is that rare person. She is an accomplished musician with a wonderful voice playing the harp the piano, etc. Her gifts added to being an interfaith minister have been shared enhancing spiritual gatherings and facilitating weddings.. She has spent the rest of her life as a volunteer doing whatever was needed, whenever it was called for. She raised support for Public Radio, organized prayer vigils for the Earth, created awareness and support for Tibet and displaced Tibetans as well as Native Americans, specifically from the Rosebud Reservation...
As happens far too often in today's America, she is now in need herself, in serious danger of losing her beloved humble home. Ilfra suffers from dementia and was recently attacked by a dog thought by all to be friendly.
The time to act is NOW - thankfully Ilfra has strong community ties and support and help from people willing to offer their time and energy and to keep things organized. But money to repair the heating system and kitchen counters and cabinets must be found.. The help needed is to get the adjacent cottage in ready-to-rent condition so the income generated from the rental can pay for Ilfra's mortgage.
The property is located in West Hurley, NY.
The repairs will cost initially approximately $5000. Some of the labor will be donated by kind supporters. Repairs will be conducted as donations come in.
The challenge is simple - let's get this beautiful cottage in shape so that this amazingly kind and generous woman can KEEP her home, living out her life with the dignity and respect which she has spent her life offering to the world.
