Believing they were finally safe, they left the apartment—only to later learn that the armed suspect had entered their home through the attic, barricaded himself inside, and became involved in a multi-agency armed standoff involving SWAT. The incident ended with the suspect taking his own life inside their bedroom.

<div>Their home is now an active crime scene and has been rendered completely uninhabitable. They cannot return to their apartment or their belongings and are experiencing severe emotional trauma, fear, and displacement.
