Helping a Family in Need and Making a Difference

I came across a family in need 10 days ago via a community email. Great grandparents are raising their great granddaughter alone; they had just moved to Florida from another state and with preparing for their move, were swindled out of their money they had saved for it. I learned that they live in an empty house and the 9 year old great granddaughter is sleeping on the floor. It broke my heart knowing that families are struggling in my neighborhood and if we all pulled together, we could make a difference. Within one week, I was able to organize many volunteers in my community that were willing to donate furniture, house ware, and a laptop, help with the move, provide a truck and even bought clothes for the 9 year old child. Both now have a bed to sleep in and furniture to sit on. Since she is enrolled in a school in Broward County, she will need many different things, from clothes to material to fees paid etc. The great grandparents are not the youngest anymore and have their own ailments; the husband is disabled and some of the bills have not been paid in a while. Now, this family is extremely grateful for anything we were able to drop off so far and never asked for anything. I am starting this fund to see if together, we can help them back on their feet and make our community a better place to live.
