My
Mom broke her back four years ago, and has never fully recovered. As a result we lost our home, she lost her job, and we face huge medical bills.
But we are a team and we laugh a lot.
No more so than when I recently received a scholarship to a precollege program at Oxford University in England for four weeks this July.
But Mom is a bit nervous -- she feels that at fifteen, I am too young to travel so far alone -- and she is not sure how to raise the money for a mandatory application fee, return airfare, and a few incidentals while I am in England.
However, thanks to a few wonderful people, babysitting, car-washes, rummage sales, and sales of my special chocolate cookies, we have been able to raise $865, but still have a long way to go.
So we have decided to ask you for a little help. And while we feel slightly awkward doing so, we would greatly appreciate any sort of financial assistance. Even a single dollar helps.
Please, please, please.
In return all we can offer for your generosity is...
1. Our deep appreciation and love. And our friendship.
2. A hand-written postcard from Oxford, England. (For those willing to send me their address.)
3. A special listing as benefactor on my blog, which I am in the process of developing.
Lastly, we know your contribution will make a difference to our lives, and humbled by it, we promise to "˜pay it forward' whenever and wherever we can.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
