<div>I'm a 22-year-old who was on the cusp of an exciting new chapter before life took an unexpected turn. This summer was meant to be the culmination of my master's degree journey, and I had exciting plans to move to New Zealand in September 2023 to embark on a new adventure. A job at a geotechnical engineering firm awaited me, promising a future full of possibilities.

<div>Then came August, a month that changed everything. I was confronted with a diagnosis that none of us ever anticipates – malignant melanoma (skin cancer). Immediate surgery was required, leading to two wide excision surgeries on my back and a sentinel lymph node biopsy, during which my lymph nodes were removed. The results were not what I had hoped for – those lymph nodes tested positive for melanoma, indicating that the cancer had already begun to spread.

<div>At the moment, I'm facing the challenges of Stage 3 skin cancer, a reality that has put a pause on life. Instead of gearing up for exciting endeavors, I find myself navigating the complexities of treatments, uncertainty, and medical bills.
