We have concluded our fundraiser for India's fight against Covid.

With donations from across the world, we were able to raise funds to source essential medical supplies, early detection kits and building a healthcare workforce.

We would like to say a big thank you for your generous donations, love and words of kindness and hope during India’s worst tragedy in recent history. Your donations helped save hundreds of lives and will carry on providing ongoing support to some of the most vulnerable and marginalised communities.

APRIL 2021

India is facing a catastrophic second wave of Covid-19. This is a tragedy like no other.  There is an acute shortage of hospital beds with assisted breathing equipment and ICU ventilators.
 
Help India Breathe is an initiative started in the UK. Our mission is to mobilise emergency supplies to India.

We started our journey with one simple aim - mobilise effective hi-tech emergency Covid-19 supplies to hospitals involved in the care of covid-19 patients starting with assisted breathing devices. When things escalated and oxygen crisis hit hospitals, we decided to source Oxygen Concentrators to save lives.

Donations from this fundraiser helped us source 95 Oxygen Concentrators from the USA, which are in the process of being deployed through Janvikas across Indian states,  for instance at a Leprosy hospital in a remote area of Chhattisgarh ( a state in Central India).

However, our work is far from over. With the help of our charity partners Janvikas (www.janvikas.in), we are now helping rural and marginalised communities to not only battle this wave of infection but build resilience for the next wave.  We are doing this through training unemployed youth to become frontline health care workers and supporting early diagnosis and COVID care programmes. Our Charity Partners
We have partnered with Janvikas - www.janvikas.in . The amazing team at Janvikas led by the inimitable Kirti Joshi is in charge of on- ground deployment of resources and training of medical and paramedic staff. The team are already doing exceptional work for Covid-19 relief for communities across India. They share our guiding principle of helping those most in need irrespective of economic or social strata or location. Any charity/govt. hospital/community health centre and covid facility is free to contact Janvikas to access these resources.

Use of Funds:

We are fundraising to provide essential medical supplies to save lives and provide relief  to communities across India that have been impacted by this crisis.

Apart from mobilising the 95 Oxygen Concentrators, we are now aiming to raise funds:

- to train 500 unemployed youth to become frontline health care workers for Covid care within their communities. Their training in healthcare would mean that they will be able to support their communities beyond Covid. We are aiming to set up 4 training units for the purpose.

- to set up an advanced covid care centre in the Kutch region  of Gujarat

-  for a mobile diagnostic van that would cater to 40 villages. This will help communities that do not have access to adequate primary care and diagnostic facilities
