“ Help for Haley”
Hello everyone, I am starting this GoFundMe support page for my beautiful sister Haley Mulder.
In early September this year she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. A diagnosis that nobody wants to hear, or expects. Especially as a young 30 year old and relatively new mother.
The Oncologist has staged Her Cancer at 3A as of October 31st. There is also some concern with the CT scan Haley had recently, there is an unknown mass in her jaw that required a biopsy, we are currently awaiting results. Unfortunately some of these procedures are not covered by Health care or her husbands current policy. Fingers crossed for the best case scenario, a bone marrow pocket. Haley cannot have any health issues prior to Chemo treatments which are scheduled to begin on November 15 2017
As the battle with cancer starts it creates fear and uncertainty, it also begins to take things away. Haley has undergone surgery, and is now missing her left breast, and a few lymph nodes from her arm. Genetic testing is underway to determine if the doctors will be removing her right breast as well. Just over four months of Chemo with Radiation to follow. Also five years worth of medication after the Chemo and Radiation to keep her in menopause. Which has effectually put a stop to her dream to grow her family in the future. I think that she is struggling with this fact the most! As she miscarried what was to be their second child two days before her breast removal surgery.
The financial burden that Cancer is beginning to take is clear. Haley is presently a full time mom with a busy two year old. This means that John is the only member of their family bringing home “the bread.” He is fortunate enough to have some insurance to help with the medical expenses. But as the appointments continue along with a list of prescriptions they are learning that the medication and treatments needed to win this fight with cancer come at a price! Along with many other unforeseen expenses, they are in need of some help. The Cancer treatment centre has been helpful with all other organizations available to them. However, it is a waiting game.
Cancer also takes its toll mentally. Haley is robbed of sleep, time and sanity. I know there has been too many sleepless nights already, and many more to come. Cancer keeps you awake at night thinking about the future. The future of your life, your child’s life, family + Friends, lost dreams, and the changes to come. It seems to have the ability to haunt your future dreams with its recurrence. Time gets lost to so many different appointments: Bone scans, Mammograms, Blood Tests, Ultrasounds, Doctor appointments, Chemo, Mental health etc… It is all so consuming.
Haley understands, its all in the name of help and finding the cure. However, It steals the time she has with her daughter. Cancer has forever changed Haley’s life. She has to come to terms with the new path life has presented. It is unfortunately a fact of life now. One crazy, tired day at a time.
Cancer can not take away Haley’s Spirit! She is strong, vivacious and wacky. Far too stubborn to let cancer win! She has the ability to make jokes with the doctors. Find a couple laughs during some of the long hard days. It can not take her friends and family away! Haley, myself and our family have been overwhelmed with the love and support that we have received during this unfortunate time. The friends she has made in her community help me sleep better at night because of their generosity and compassion towards her. It most certainly can not take away her love! Haley has a beautiful passion for her daughter and family. She proves how strong and amazing she is as a person. Haley has been extremely selfless during this struggle. This is why I am asking for some help in aiding them financially. Try to take some of the stress & worry away!
