For the past couple of years we have noticed that Terrapin was exhibiting symptoms of OCD.  The onset of these symptoms came after the tragic death of his favorite uncle, and after seeing a therapist, we attributed it to that.  It was manageable and hardly affecting his daily life.  Last year, as his symptoms became more noticeable and it began affecting his daily life, it became obvious that it was more than a mild case of OCD.  We have finally been put in touch with a doctor that specializes in auto-immune diseases, and we are getting him treatments for PANDAS, which affects the immune system and brain function.  Currently Terrapin has inflammation in the brain that we are trying to manage.

As Terrapin receives on-going treatment that the insurance will not cover, our medical bills are becoming unmanageable.  In order for Terrapin to have these procedures we have to pay up front, so we've had to delay some of them due to a lack of funds.  It is crucial and necessary he has these treatments done before he's 18.  The sooner we can act and get him what he needs the better his chances will be for a full-recovery.  The good news about PANDAS is that with proper treatment it does not have to be a lifelong disorder.
