Frank Holmes Memorial & Expense Fund

My name is Heather and I am Frank Holmes' youngest daughter. Frank has stage 4 prostate cancer which has spread from his prostate and metastasized into his bones. In 2014, a missed payment for his life insurance forced him to go for a medical exam. This is when he was diagnosed, and after 40 years of paying for life insurance they cancelled his policy because of this diagnosis. At 83 years old with no retirement or savings, this left my parents with nothing for his passing. As a World War II Army Veteran, my Dad naturally continued to work 5 days a week despite his condition. 

            On February 7th of this year my Dad went to work like usual but the cancer had recently spread through his spine causing him an intense amount of pain and limited mobility. Sadly, as he was getting in his truck to come home, he fell and hit his head. This fall caused bleeding in his brain which in turn lead to a stroke leaving him unable to speak save for a few words. Combined with the cancer he is in constant pain and struggles to move leaving him frail and weak. After almost 3 weeks in the hospital he was admitted to in-home hospice care.

            My Dad has never been one to give up. I'm afraid however that time is no longer on our side. Since his stroke he has deteriorated so quickly it has been a nightmare for my family. As if dealing with the grief of her dying husband was not enough, my mother has been left with hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical expenses and debt. My family and I left our lives to move in and help a couple of years ago. We work full time but with two young children aged 3 and 5 and now assisting in caring for my dad who needs care 24/7, our effort just isn't enough. Asking for help is so hard but if there's any way I can give my mom some peace of mind that she won't lose her house and her life that she and my father built it would make a world of difference for our family.
