Ben's Family Needs Help

Donation protected
We have set up this GoFundMe account to help our Friend, Coach and Instructor, Ben Fonseca, and his family.

We would like to raise $50,000 to help Ben and his family with all his medical expenses, treatment and medication.

Ben was employed at Diamond Nation as a coach/instructor and also worked overnight at FedEx putting about 70 hours a week of work in.  On July 26, 2017, that all came to crashing halt.

The man you see in the pics on top......that's how Ben looked on July 26, 2017.   The pics on the bottom, unfortunately, reflect his current state.

Over the last 10 months, Ben has spent 5 of them in the hospital, missing every holiday and each of his boys' birthdays in between.

His current diagnosis is dire.  He has a very progressive diffuse systemic scleroderma.  Systemic scleroderma is an autoimmune disorder. This means it’s a condition in which the immune system attacks the body. Healthy tissue is destroyed because the immune system mistakenly thinks it’s a foreign substance or infection. The cause is unknown and there is no current cure.

He's currently being treated aggressively with monthly chemo infusions in addition to oral meds.

The disease is attacking his gastro intenstinal system. It has slowed his digestive system as he has an inability to absorb nutrients properly.   As a result, he has suffered very rapid weight loss.

Since his diagnosis, Ben has lost about 115 lbs.

The scleroderma has also resulted in an overlap of mixed connective tissue disease where his muscles swell, become stiff, painful and weak. This includes his heart, lungs, kidneys and his gastro intestinal system.

Ben has spent his entire adult life helping others.  He has coached baseball as high as the professional level all the way down to the youth level, and everywhere in between.  He has positively impacted the lives of hundreds.  Coaches don't stay in baseball to get rich. They stay in it for the gratification of being an influence on the lives of their players.

There was no greater element that Ben thrived in more than the individual instructor role he had at Diamond Nation.   Every player he mentored got better, and each of them came to love and appreciate his infectious enthusiasm in their development.

Ben is a husband to a wonderful and caring wife Tonilynn,  and his ultimate pride and joy is his three boys,  Ben IV  (13), Mason who is 10 and Sage who is 6.

No amount of money can help Ben get better at this point.  But, the reality is,  ANY amount can help his family with the massive financial burdens levied on them from this terrible tragedy

LET'S HELP A MAN THAT HAS SPENT ALL OF HIS ADULT LIFE HELPING OTHERS.

THANK YOU!!!
