Help Circus Warehouse Bounce Back!

Donation protected

We are humbly asking our friends to assist us in the recovery of our Circus Warehouse home in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. Circus Warehouse is a professional training facility for aspiring circus artists, but is also a home to non-pro circus enthusiasts and serious athletic practitioners. Sandy inundated us.

The good news? The Warehouse will recover. Our trapeze rig is uninjured! The flooring is being cleaned and put back together. Our students are all OK. We have an army of CW supporters who have been cleaning every inch of the Warehouse all week long.

The bad news? We lost equipment, furniture, the entire office, and a week of business. We prepped like mad pre-storm: sandbagged, pulled much of the equipment up to the ceiling, put the contents of the office up on desks, but flying debris hit our garage door, dented it considerably and gave the water a place to come in. Water also came up through the drains. Circus Warehouse wound up with more than 3 feet of water, much of it coming from superfund Newtown Creek. Everything possible is being scrubbed, treated for mold, disinfected and restored. This part is going very well.

The list of casualties includes things destroyed, or contaminated beyond repair, including:  computers, printer, routers, phones, business collateral, 3 corde lisse (ropes), 3 dance trapezes, an airbag pit,  large under-the-trapeze mats, some of the safety belts, a pile of personal equipment belonging to our students, all of our power tools, the audio system, refrigerator, microwave, the new couches (sob) and most carpets.  The dance floor might survive, but it will take considerable renovation. (NB: the dance floor lived!!) The list of unsalvageable items is growing. Clean-up expenses continue to mount.

Many people have asked how to help. Here are a few ways. You can donate money to help us replace some important equipment, or you can email us and book and pay for an event in advance so we can do what we do best and fly all your friends on our way to recovery! All help is appreciated greatly.
