Supporting the Aguilars

Maria Aguilar passed away suddenly Sunday, November 5th. She was a stay at home mother and now leaves behind her three children: Her oldest child, Alan (20), her daughter, Cindy (19), and the youngest, Bryan (3).

Cindy rushed to her mother when she suddenly collapsed, the EMT informed Cindy that she could not stay beside her mother on the way to the hospital.  Cindy, the first of her family to arrive, spent hours alone waiting and praying for her mother.  The doctors informed Cindy that they were able to regain Maria’s heartbeat, but she was declared brain dead.  When Cindy was finally allowed to see her, she said goodbye to her mother.  The doctors pronounced Maria deceased in the early hours of Sunday morning.

At just nineteen, Cindy is the most mature, compassionate, and responsible teenager that we know. Located in Monroe, New York, Cindy is a senior in high school, works as a secretary at Sacred Heart Church, as well as a full-time manager at Party City.  The fact that she has been able to maintain high grades in her education, and work over fifty hours a week is undeniably unheard of for someone her age.  While always exceeding expectations in all that she does, the most difficult thing for someone as selfless as Cindy is asking for help.

Cindy is left to care for Alan, who has a learning disability, and Bryan, with help from their non-English speaking step-father. As her step-father works during the day, Cindy continues her role as a provider for the household and completes her education.  Along with her responsibilities as a student and employee, Cindy will be arranging the funeral, hospital expenses without the aid of life insurance, as well as any and all future expenses.

The funeral for Maria Aguilar took place November 14, and was beautifully done; Cindy and her household were supported by many of their family and close friends.

We understand that many would like to help, but are unsure as to how. If you would like to donate towards the funeral, childcare, housing and other expenses, you will be making a difference in the Aguilar home.

Gratefully, from her many co-workers, who care for Cindy as family,

Brittany Inglese, Joseph Fedele, and both the Party City and Sacred Heart communities
