Fund to replace destroyed vehicle

Donation protected
On October 20,  while I was on my way to help a friend move in Richmond, Va, my vehicle caught fire on I-64 and burned to a cinder.  That I made it out of the car less than a minute before the gas line ruptured and burst into flames was a blessing from God on High.

A huge number of friends responded to a FB post I made about the accident and suggested that I start a GoFundMe campaign to help with its replacement.  In the weeks I've had to consider this advice,  I've had to admit to myself that they're right, and about more than just how such a resource can help with this immediate disaster. The sheer volume of responses suggesting I start this undertaking has made me see "the forest for the trees":  The fact that I truly need help in the first place.

I've had to admit to myself that without seeking  said assitance, the hard road I've been on will, at best, remain hard, or could very well worsen. I've spent two full years out of the last four recovering from the first two serious injuries of my life (torn right rotator with serious complications/adhesive capsulitis from 2013-14, and a broken left tibia/ruptured ankle tendons from 2016-now).  I was physically not able to work for much of that time.

Putting my foolish pride aside, I've had to admit to myself that I do, indeed, need to seek that definitive financial help.  I've been treading water for four solid years with an increasing lack of success, and with much of that time spent in very real and very awful physical pain. The burned-up car is the tip of something bigger and scarier.... and hitherto, I confess that it has been daunting.

In the here and now, I really appreciate that there is a way to ask for help in seeking a solution.  I come from a era in which being able to communicate with the world-at-large wasn't readily at the fingertips, so with some technical help from my girlfriend, Kristen (who is a whole lot smarter than me) and the "nudge" of getting upwards of 50 suggestions that I start a GoFundMe campaign, this is what I'm doing.

Today, I'm mostly healed from my injuries, but it's been a very rough stretch.  I wasn't carrying any health insurance when I was injured, in both cases.  I'm seeking assistance to both replace my burned-up automobile and to provide some financial stability after four years during which my ability to earn money was compromised (and for long stretches of time, eliminated).  In other words, I'm gonna take a lot of good people's suggestions and beg the boon of a boost with this here GoFundMe campaign.

It's a very heavy thing to have to do, and I know I am asking for a lot ... but I need the help, and I have to believe that I am worthy of making the request.  So, I'm asking, my friends.  I thank you for your consideration, your generosity, and your friendship, in advance.  At this time of year, I am especially cognizant of the good people in my life, and of my gratitude for them.

Please share my story, and give what you can.
Thank you.
