Please help Chris beat Cancer!
When my daughter Tiffany and son in law, Christian moved to Colorado last year to pursue a low stress and more simplified lifestyle, the last thing they were expecting was a stage 3 Oropharyngeal Cancer diagnosis. We are in complete shock and have been utterly blindsided by Chris' diagnosis.
Over the holidays, a swollen lymph node turned very painful in his jaw and became too intense to handle. After a visit to the MD and referral to ENT, he was quickly admitted for biopsy of a very large tumor in his throat and partial tonsillectomy. Chris lives a very healthy lifestyle and in fact, they met 15 years ago at a natural food store in FL. You can imagine our disbelief in his diagnosis. Alas, cancer does not discriminate and it can strike any one of us. The staggering statistic is that 1.74 million Americans will receive a heartbreaking diagnosis in 2018, thats 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women.
Chris has been out of work due to unbeleivable pain and the inability to open his mouth due to the tumor size. And everyone that knows Chris, knows that he loves to talk ;) The medical bills are beginning to accumulate and this is only the beginning. The Dr's are calling for at least 6 weeks of Chemo and possibly a major neck dissection surgery. Although they are fortunate enough to have health insurance, the cost to keep his immune system healthy and pay for the many complimentary treatments ahead that are necessary will be immense. Most of which, are out of pocket.
After learning that the cancer had metastisized to his lymph nodes bilaterally in his neck, the situation has become dire. Their love, hope and perservance is strong, yet we are all very concerned. The family is taking a leap of faith by starting this GoFundMe. It takes a lot of courage to ask for help.
