Help Children who have Lost a Loved One

Founders of Bare Heart Buddy Molly Eiche and Liz Birckhead Thompson are working with the Moyer Foundation to raise money because every day approximately 2,000 children in the United States suddenly lose a loved one and at least 8.3 million children live in a home with a parent in need of treatment for alcohol and/or drug dependency. This fund is set up to help these children and ANY amount helps...there is no amount too small!
Founded by Major League Baseball pitcher Jamie Moyer and his wife Karen, the Moyer Foundation's mission is to provide comfort, hope, and healing to children affected by loss and family addiction. The Foundation created and supports two signature initiatives in Camp Erin, a free bereavement camp for children ages 6-17 who are grieving the loss of a loved one and Camp Mariposa, a free camp for children ages 9-12 who are living with addiction in their families.
With your generosity, campers will receive a unique therapeutic resource, Bare Heart Buddy,designed by a Child Life Specialist to help children cope with their emotions of loss or separation by writing/sharing memories of their loved one and filling their cuddly bear's Velcro pouch with these notes or drawings (along with pictures, and other sentimental items)~creating an everlasting connection. When they are missing their loved one they can hold their teddy bear tight and revisit their memories.
100 Camp Erin campers received Bare Heart Buddy Kits and our goal is to have at least 300 campers receive them in 2014! Every donation, no matter the amount, gets us closer to this goal.

Each kit is $24.95 (kit includes plush teddy bear with Velcro pouch, booklet designed to help children cope with emotions associated with loss and separation, heart shaped notepad and marker).
