Help My Mom Beat Cancer

Donation protected
My mom was sent to the emergency room at Parkland Hospital in Dallas due to what we believed to be gallstones but we quickly learned that her situation was far worse than believed.  Unfortunately, my mom is uninsured and she was sent to this hospital because they are known for seeing patients that are uninsured.  After spending the night and most of the next day waiting to be seen, her CAT scan came back with abnormal results and she was admitted into the hospital.

Once admitted into the hospital, she had several different tests and scans done in order to better understand her abnormal results. That is when we received the news that completely turned our world upside down.

One thing after another

My mom was diagnosed with a Neuroendocrine Tumor on her pancreas. It is a rare type of cancer that affects less than 200,000 people a year. The shock of hearing such news was terrifying in and of itself, it was followed by another revelation - due to not having insurance, my mom was released from the hospital in order to give us time to find a way to pay for her care.

Why we need your help

My mom is a lunch lady for Plano ISD and making ends meet off of her income is tough, which is why she did not enroll in medical benefits. She will not be able to work for the foreseeable future due to the intensity of the surgery she will undergo to hopefully remove the tumor. Not only will  we  have to deal with medical costs, her monthly bills are also something we have to worry about.

As much as we want to be able to take care of the expenses that come with this diagnosis, her hospital stay bill is 81k and we are looking at a surgery that will cost around 50k. That does not include hospital recovery time, medications and post surgery treatment.

My family can’t afford my moms treatment without your help. Anything that you are able to give will help us make sure she receives the care that she needs to beat this cancer.

About my Mom

My mom was born with a clef palate in one of the poorest countries in Central America. Her medical care to fix her condition was mediocre at best and still suffers side effects to her poorly done surgeries. She came to America, became a citizen and became a mom.

As far as moms go, my sister, brother and I are very blessed. While my sister and I are her biological children, my little brother is not. She has raised him since he was 3 months old and those that meet us would never know he isn’t our actual blood. Raising a 10 year old in her 50’s hasn’t been easy for my mom but she cares for my brother the best that she can. If you ever get a chance to meet my little brother Jared, you would see how great of a job she has done as his mother.

She is a grandmother to my sisters 5 year old little boy and will welcome her 2nd grandchild ( my son) in October.

With your help, my mom will be able to watch my little brother and her two grandsons grow up.

This is an urgent medical case, I hope you will answer our desperate plea for help. My mom means everything to our family and your help means more than you will ever know.

Our family thanks you for your generosity!
