(5.26.19)
Canoodle is Joe's and my 2nd adopted fur baby and she tore her knee ligament (CCL) during the government shut down. We were both forced out of work and lost a whole month worth of my wages, since I did not receive any back pay or compensation for lost time and lost money being a Federal Contractor. This is when we learned our baby needed expensive knee surgery and she is only 2 years old!
We looked into ways on how to save money, because we literally took a huge blow financially during this shut down, and I just found out my contract will not be renewing.

1st quote: $8,200
= $6,000 surgery in Seattle + $1,500 for rehabilitation + $300 three nights hotel stay + $400 unpaid time off
Money was due time of surgery.
Our friends and Family pitched into help us and our #TeamCanoodle #HelpCanoodleBendAgain GoFundMe grew.

2nd quote: $ 5,900
= $3,800 surgery at Washington State Veterinary Teaching Hospital + $1,400 rehabilitation + $300 three nights hotel stay + $400 unpaid time off
We took 4 days off of work, traveled 6 hours one way to Washington State Vet School (WSU), and stayed at a hotel with our other pup (Magic) down the road from where Canoodle was.

Cost to Date: $5,540*
=
$3,200 Surgery at WSU + $1,400 Rehabilitation sessions & Supplements + $300 three nights hotel stay + $400 unpaid time off + Anti inflammatory medicine (2x$120)

*How thankful we already were with an ALMOST $3,000 savings: Thank you Tim for suggesting going to WSU Animal Hospital even though it was much farther, we had an amazing team, and Amanda updated us throughout Canoodle's stay.

If you could help us offset her surgery and rehabilitation costs to help improve her quality of life post knee surgery, that would mean so much to us. Canoodle is an active 2 years old puppy and she lost -10 lbs (muscle atrophy) since January 2019.
No contribution too small or big, and share gf.me/u/swjmw4 with your community would help expand #TeamCanoodle.

At the teaching Hospital, her team includes a board certified surgeon, surgical resident, senior veterinary student and a surgical technician (Pictured Below). They have called 3 times since last night with updates and sent a photo of her evening walk. (2nd photo Below).

She was OUT OF SURGERY  (12:45pm PST 4.17.19). She is awake and doing well! Positive thoughts and energy being received!

Canoodle's team is expanding! #TeamCanoodle

Good News: The Staff Love Canoodle and her soft Floppy Bunny ears and she Loves the attention and close ups! Every time someone walked by her kennel, she watched with her big brown eyes and wagged her tail. Day 1 she was already putting weight on her leg.

Bad News: After her physical exam her other knee shows 1st signs of soreness indicating degeneration of her Ligament, and may need knee surgery on her second knee after her left one heals!! :'( More rehabilitation may help strengthen her muscle around her knee maybe slow any further ligament tearing!! Help save our fur baby's knee and re-gain her muscles that have atrophied!**

She is only  2 years old and we adopted her from CT Humane Society when she was 3 months old and she now lives with us in Washington. She is a Border Collie/ Hound in "Knee'd of knee surgery! ** And Just found out her other knee ligaments are loosening!! **

Canoodle is our highly active, charismatic fur baby, who unexpectedly tore her CCL "ACL" in human terms, which is her ligament in her knee. My husband Joe and I, noticed her running on 3 legs with her sister Magic to the window during the Government shutdown, when we were both forced out of work. We lost all of my wages during this recent shutdown, since I am a Federal Contractor, I did not receive any back pay, and our savings went to mortgage, keeping heat on in the middle of a snowy winter, and feeding the animals and us. At first when saw her running on 3 legs, we thought maybe she sprained her leg. . . please help us improve our Fur Baby's recovery and #HelpCanoodleBendAgain

Upon veterinary and surgical consultation, we discovered she tore her Cranial Cruciate Ligament. This ligament is one of the most important stabilizers in her knee and she will need tibial plateau leveling osteotomy or TPLO surgery to change the angle and shape of her tibia!! Eek. It is a degenerative disease and hard to know until an affected pup starts favoring the injury.

Cost to Date: $5,540

Rehabilitation at home and at SOUND Animal Rehab
We are working on home physical therapy 3-4 times daily and adding exercises. However, she has lost
-10lbs since end of January and will need
more PT to help regain lost muscle due to atrophy.

Rehab costs $125 per session for once a week for 8 weeks. Which cost an additional $1,400!
PT Sessions rebuild muscle that atrophied (-10 lbs in 3 months).
The facility provides Laser therapy, Massage, and Hydro Therapy with an underwater treadmill, to help
alleviate strain and stress on the dogs, to
re-build muscle, and improve stability, range of motion and quality of life.
Check out the facility here: Rehabilitation Facility Seattle

Canoodle's Laser Therapy Session
-She Loves string cheese!

She is so tolerable of her Laser Googles! Enjoying all of the Close ups and Attention!
Consider a contribution today to help her bend again!

Energy has increased and she is learning and listening well.
Below she is listening to Joe as she walks back and forth over the pipes to help regain her lost muscles!

She is our rescued fur baby, so young at just 2 years old! This shock of the cost for her knee surgery and rehabilitation is heart wrenching and unexpected for us. Since we want to improve her quality of life, we are trying all we can to help raise money. All contributions and shares, really truly,  help us; allow her be a happy, healthy, energetic, playful puppy again.

GOAL
$5,000
Any contribution would be greatly appreciated, no size too small or big, :) and we are looking to raise a total of $5,000.
*
Any additional money raised will go to increased physical therapy to help prevent her second knee surgery
