Help Brighten Kirsten's Smile

On Wednesday, July 26th, as I was riding my bicycle home on the paved bike path, I was hit by another woman on a bike who did not respect my right of way. After she T-boned my back tire and asked me if I was ok, she fled the scene, leaving me alone at night with serious injuries. Luckily, I was able to call my husband, who came to collect me off the pavement and rushed me to the hospital. I ended up with a fractured jaw, which required surgery and bone grafting, 2 fractured vertebrae and 7 missing teeth. My recovery will take months and requires my jaw to remain wired shut and my neck in a brace. I will likely require another surgery to replace the bone missing in my lower jaw, so that I can later get dental implants.

Due to the fact that the woman who hit me has not come forward to help, the financial burden of this incident has fallen completely on my family's shoulders. We are estimating that our medical bills will be at least $14,000. Any financial assistance that people are offering would help us in paying these huge medical bills that we face. I feel incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support that I have received from my family, friends, local community, across the country and around the world.
