Hello everyone!
My name is Brianna Thurman and I'm a junior at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. I'm an African American Studies and Government double major and also a Mellon Mays Undergraduate fellow.
I've recently been granted the opportunity to study abroad in Cape Town, South Africa at the University of Cape Town through the CIEE Arts and Sciences program during the Spring 2018 semester starting February 1, 2018.
Unfortunately, study abroad is very expensive and not something that is financially feasible for myself or family. I am the only child of a disabled single mother (who I love with all my heart) and work 3 jobs on campus to be able to support myself and family back home in New Orleans, LA.. Although I work a lot, however, I fear that I will not be able to save enough to pay off many of the fees that are due before my departure.
As a result of this financial barrier, I am aiming to rise between $3000 and $4000 to help with many of the expenses such as airfare, books, meals, abroad health insurance, and additional CIEE program and living costs.
Any donation to help cover these cost would be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate, I would still be grateful if you could share this page and spread the word.
