For those of you who do not know Bonni, we would like to begin with an introduction.
Bonni is an almost 4 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback Boxer mix, that was rescued from Brother Wolf in Ashevillle, North Carolina on April 20th, 2014.
She is the definition of a perfect man's (ahem - and women's) best friend. Bonni is a sweet, emotional and overall very happy pup. She is gentle and trustworthy with children. With other dogs, her only hope is to make another friend - whether the dog is 8lbs or 150lbs. She knows all the tricks in the book... paw, play dead, speak... she even whispers and sings the blues alongside a harmonica being played. Bonni loves to go for runs, swim, wrestle with her dog friends, beg for food (we're working on that) and is a damn good cuddle buddy. Bonni is the epitome of a being that lives life, to the fullest- with a heart that is overfilled with love.
For those of you who know her, you are able to agree. You may even think of another characteristic, quirk, that was left out or not given a genuine description. Let us tell you - it is difficult to fully express who Bonni is, using words.
Bonni is our best friend, our child, our adventure companion... and even sometimes - she is the glue that holds us together, when life becomes a bit too much.
Bonni is perfect in nearly every sense but she has been diagnosed with not one, but two, torn CCL ligaments in both rear legs. As a result, there are days she cannot stand, walk, go down our three front stairs, go to the bathroom and only has the ability to lay, in obvious pain.
The answer to this is a costly and extensive TPLO surgery on both knees, with a 6+ month recovery. After much consideration and research, we would like to move forward with the surgery so she has a fighting chance to revert back to her original spunky self, for the rest of her days.
With this said, we need help financially - we are hoping to raise half of the $7,000 total expense, using this platform.
We had much hesitation, reluctance - even guilt, turning to our friends, family and possibly the general public, for help... but at this point, time is of the essence and we are out of options. Our pride cannot be a factor, in relieving her of constant pain. If you are able, please "meet us halfway".
