Berkeley Community Media is a non-profit Public, Education, and Government television production studio and training facility for the city of Berkeley. We nurture community involvement, activism, creativity and freedom of expression by providing education, production equipment, technical support and a transmission conduit of grassroots, non-corporate media arts and information.
Our Goal: Promote diversity, civic involvement, artistic expression, community and understanding for everyone, regardless of any divisive label or circumstance. We strive to create and support the creation of only the highest quality media productions at the lowest cost possible for all of our community members.
Broadcast: Comcast channels 28 and 33 in Berkeley, AT&T U-Verse throughout the greater Bay Area and stream our public access content on the web at www.bcmtv.org/article/watch_channel_28.
BCM has been providing these services to the city of Berkeley and it’s community for more than 20 years.

Why We Need Your Help: We recently received notice that Berkeley High School will take over and transform our office and studio space into classrooms and a theater arts program for BHS students.
The departure date for BCM is June 30th and our first main concern is the "Head End" which is basically the broadcast brains of our operation.
Our next concern will be to get our facility up and running as quickly as possible to provide an editing lab, teaching space for Field Production instruction and to eventually build out an Express Studio to use with the Tricaster portable studio.
We currently have a location to store our equipment but don't have even a temporary location to continue operations.
The Cost: In the interim of finding a permanent location, we need your help with moving and transition expenses:
*We expect 30 days to move our equipment at a rate of $650/day = $19,500
*Moving expenses, new location clean/set up, construction supplies and equipment $5,500.
We Need Volunteers:
Looking for experienced carpenters, painters, technicians, and organizers, to volunteer their time, knowledge and possibly resources to help co-create the brand new version of Berkeley Community Media.
All these expenses add up to what we Believe are the Essential Elements of Democracy and Vital Connections to Keep the Conduit for Free Speech Alive and Well in Our Community!
