Help Baby Kate - 1 pound 6 ounces
Donation protected
Our daughter Kate Elizabeth Clark was born at 27 weeks 4 days, weighing only 1 pound 6 ounces.
On October 24, my wife Michelle discovered she had preeclampsia (a rapidly progressive condition characterized by high blood pressure and the presence of protein in the urine, that affects at least 5-8% of pregnancies and is critically unsafe for the baby). She was hospitalized immediately and transferred to St. Joseph's hospital in Phoenix, Arizona on October 25.
After daily monitoring, shots, blood draws, ultra sounds, and other tests, doctors determined on November 2nd that Michelle's preeclampsia had progressed to "severe" status, and conditions became too unsafe for the baby, as was evident by the baby's low heart rate and slow BPP tests. They delivered Kate at 8:31PM that night after an emergency C-section.
Kate was born with severe growth deficiency, weighing only 1 pound 6 ounces and measuring just 12 inches long. Kate is currently under 24-hour care at the Nursery Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St. Joseph's Hospital. Because her lungs are so underdeveloped, she is on a respirator machine that helps her breath, among other machines, monitors and medication.
If you are interested in supporting us through this very difficult time, your donations will help with my daugher Kate's medical bills and expenses, and my wife's loss of income during her unpaid time off work recovering.
Thank you!
