This is Diane DiGiacomo, she is a single mother, sister, Aunt and friend and has recently been diagnosed with 9-11 related cancer. She was a dedicated Special Investigator of the Humane Law Eforcement Unit of the ASPCA for almost 18 years until the responsibilities of these agents was intergrated with the NYPD. During her years as a Special Investigator Diane was often featured on Animal Planet's series "Animal Precinct". Like other law enforcement officers, Diane was at Ground Zero helping any way she could. My Aunt Diane took care of the search and rescue dogs that were coming off of "The Pile". Their cut and scraped paws needed to be cleaned and bandaged after tirelessly searching for survivors. Also, many surrounding apartment buildings were left structurally unsound. People headed for work that unassuming morning leaving their beloved pets home only to learn that they could not return to their homes for weeks. Sadly some pets also became orphans that day. Diane and her colleagues went into the buildings, climbing up to 38 flights of stairs simply to reunite those pets with their owners.

Diane has dedicated her life to helping those who needed it most. Those without a voice or a hero to come to the rescue could count on my aunt, Diane. Diane is someone who still continues to help others whenever possible. Now faced with a battle like no other and financial hardship it is my hope that we can help her as she is truly deserving through this GOFUNDME.com campaign. She has done so much for so many people and so many animals, that now it is our turn to take care of her. She was even on "ANIMAL PRECINCT".
