On July 22nd, 2017, my brother Alan suffered severe injuries as a result of a terrible car accident. Sue and I are profoundly grateful that Alan survived such a horrific crash.
Both of his arms and legs were broken, as was his spine, several ribs, and his pelvis. After five surgeries Alan is facing months of rehab and at least one additional surgery. We don't know how much this will cost and how much insurance will cover. He's facing $5,000 in deductibles, at least several months of lost income, and physical assistance once he eventually is able to return home. We're told Alan's insurance coverage for his therapy is nearing an end, yet he hasn't been medically cleared to bear any weight, i.e. simply stand.
We just returned from 10 days with Alan at the hospital. We marvel at his resilience and we know he still has a very long road of recovery ahead of him.
Alan is fighting through this with determination, humor, and hope.
He is blessed with incredible friends who have been at his side since the beginning. He needs all the help he can get so that he can concentrate on his recovery and not worry about losing his home.
