Help Abigail Bafowaah getCancerCare

Hello, my name is Abigail.  I am 24 years old international student from Ghana West Africa who is in desperate need of Cancer treatment.  I have been diagnosed with a type of Cancer called Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) since June 6th 2016.  I am writing to the community at large because not only has my life changed with this sudden news but also I am struggling with the financial support required to get me through this difficult time.  As an international student, I had a medical insurance since I don’t qualify for Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).  However the insurance company has denied my medical coverage since my diagnosis was made.  I am in desperate need of treatment but the physicians are planning to terminate my treatment as I can’t afford to pay and ultimately been returnedback to Ghana where I would not receive the lifesaving treatment needed.

I am a single mother of a three year old daughter.  I love my daughter so much and all I wanted was to finish my education so I can have a better future for both of us. I am determined with all of your support to get through this cloudy times and fight Cancer.  I have always been an ambitious and hardworking, who always strive despite the odds.  Thus as a single mother, I have always known and believe in setting a great example for my daughter.  I completed my first degree from Cape Coast University in Ghana and recently came to further my education in Canada.  I am a current student of Kwantlen Polytechnic University in British Columbia pursuing my post degree program in Human Resources Management which I have successfully completed my first semester.

I am told by my doctor’s that this type of Cancer unlike many others respond positive to treatment and for that reason I am pleading with all of you to help me through your donation so I can receive this treatment.  I am currently in the inpatient at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, one of the largest Cancer Treatment Centre. Although at present my body feels weak, I will not let the Cancer win, we will fight this together as a community.  I feel like I have been given a second chance to live.  I need to get well as my daughter is waiting for my return in Ghana.

I will be forever grateful to all of you for supporting me through this challenging moments as I battle with my life.  Your donations, thoughts, prayers and love is humbly appreciated.
