Help Laura beat cancer.

Hello everyone!

Sometimes life surprises you, many of these surprises are good and some are not so much and this is unfortunately one of those. We would had never thought something like this could happen, we are ”young and healthy” and have no family history of this disease but then life throws you a curveball.

I'm starting this campaign with a goal of raising at least $10,000 to help cover the treatment expenses for my beautiful and amazing wife Laura.

About a month and a half ago, after some time of being a little worried and suspicious due to "a little ball" and some pain on her breast, Laura decided to get a recommendation from her doctor for a mammogram. The results came back and after completing a couple of biopsies the worst news were given, she was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma and metastatic carcinoma, stage 3 breast cancer.

Laura is starting with a chemotherapy treatment (approximately 5 months) to decrease the size of the tumors and thus be able to undergo a surgery to remove them. After that, she will probably need a mastectomy, radiation therapy and some other procedures to eradicate, or at least try to minimize the risk of the disease from coming back.

As many of you may or may not know these treatments are overly expensive and even though we have always tried to be ready for an emergency this is overwhelming and beyond our financial possibilities since we don’t currently have any type of medical insurance. Fortunately, the director of the medical clinic where Laura goes is trying to get at least some coverage for the treatment but there is probably a portion of it, lab tests, copays, prescription medications and other things that we’ll have to cover out of pocket.

In the coming months we will probably face a lot of difficulties and challenges, some of them financial due to being in this tough situation, spending a lot of time in the hospital and recovering after the procedures and not being able to work as much, etc, etc... I guess when life hits you hard it really hits you hard.

No matter how big or small your donation could be it will definitely be very helpful and appreciated and please don't feel bad or obligated if you can't help monetarily, I know we all have families and goals and other things to worry about and take care of. Also, be sure that we will be truly grateful if you could keep Laura in your thoughts and prayers so she can bare and overcome whatever lies ahead.

A veces la vida te sorprende, muchas de estas sorpresas son muy buenas, otras no tanto y esta es una de esas desafortunadamente. Nunca nos imaginamos que algo como esto nos pudiera pasar ya que somos ”jóvenes y sanos", y no tenemos antecedentes familiares con este tipo de enfermedad, pero de un momento a otro la vida te cambia.

Estoy comenzando una campaña con el objetivo de recaudar por lo menos $10,000 para ayudar a cubrir los gastos de tratamiento de mi hermosa e increíble esposa Laura.

Hace alrededor de un mes y medio, después de algún tiempo de estar un poco preocupada y sospechar debido a un "dolor" en el pecho, Laura decidió obtener una recomendación de su médico para una mamografía, se obtuvieron los resultados y después de un par de biopsias le dieron la peor de las noticias, el diagnóstico inicial fue carcinoma ductal invasivo y carcinoma metastásico (cáncer de mama etapa 3).

Laura está empezando con un tratamiento de quimioterapia (aproximadamente 5 meses) para disminuir el tamaño de los tumores y así poder someterse a una cirugía para extirparlos. Después de eso, probablemente necesitará una mastectomía, radioterapia y algunos otros procedimientos para erradicar o por lo menos tratar de minimizar el riesgo de que la enfermedad vuelva.

Como muchos de ustedes pudieran o no saber estos tratamientos son muy caros y aunque siempre hemos tratado de estar listos para cualquier emergencia esto es bastante abrumador y va más allá de nuestras posibilidades financieras ya que actualmente no contamos con ningún tipo de seguro medico. Afortunadamente, la directora de la clínica médica a la que Laura asiste está tratando de obtener por lo menos alguna cobertura para el tratamiento, pero probablemente habra alguna parte de este, pruebas de laboratorio, copagos, medicamentos recetados y otros procedimientos y cosas que tendremos que cubrir de nuestro bolsillo.

En los próximos meses probablemente nos enfrentaremos a muchas dificultades y desafíos, algunos de ellos financieros debido a estar en esta situación tan difícil, pasar mucho tiempo en el hospital y recuperarandose después de los procedimientos y no poder trabajar tanto, etc, etc... y pues como dicen por ahí cuando te toca, te toca.

Sin importar cuán grande o pequeña sea su donación no tengan la menor duda de que será  de bastante ayuda y muy apreciada y por favor no se sientan mal ú obligados si no pueden ayudarnos monetariamente, sé que todos tenemos familias, metas ú otras cosas que nos preocupan y que atender. También tengan la certeza de que estaremos realmente agradecidos si pudieran mantener a Laura en sus pensamientos y oraciones para que pueda soportar y superar cualquier cosa que venga por delante
