Comet's medical bills

Anyone who knows me knows my cat Comet means the world to me. Anyone with a pet can understand that they are your family, she is my baby and I fully consider Comet my child.

So when she didn't come home for a couple days I was pretty worried. On the third day I finally found her in my neighbors yard and immediately knew something was wrong.

I ended up at Animal Specialty Group. As soon as I got there they took one look at her and rushed her to the back which terrified me. They confirmed she was suffering from a diaphragmatic hernia with the entire stomach, spleen, and omentum within the thoracic cavity. Basically her stomach, spleen, and part of her liver were up inside her chest making it nearly impossible for her to breathe. This was caused by some kind of blunt force trauma, most likely she was hit by a car.

Her only option for surviving was a high risk surgery to put everything back in place and make sure there wasn't more internal damage. She had surgery on 8/12/17 and it went well all her organs looked good all considering. Post surgery there was still a huge risk of her lungs not recovering. Comet is one tough cookie though and did better than expected and was able to get off of oxygen and come home on the 14th.

I was absolutely distraught and terrified that I would lose my girl, I've had her since she was a kitten and we are extremely attached to each other. I was going to do anything it took to save her and I am beyond relieved and so happy to have her back home with me. Now I am left with the financial burden of the vet bills. I'd gladly spend the rest of my life working off the debt to have my girl be okay. My head is definitely under water with this though, so I am reaching out for help.
