Ainsley's Setback into a Comeback

In The Rejniak Family words...May 28th is a day that changed our lives forever. Our daughter, Ainsley, was diagnosed with Croup, something she has had before when she was younger with no complications. However, within hours of taking her to the doctor she was struggling to breathe. We rushed to the ER where she received repeated breathing treatments with no results. About an hour later her trachea had completely closed and she was undergoing CPR for over 10 minutes while the Doctor and Anesthesiologist tried 5 times to intubate her. She remained on a ventilator for 4 days and in Florida hospital for 23 days. She had 3 MRIs revealing swelling in her parietal lobe, occipital lobe and the Basal Ganglia due to lack of oxygen.

She is currently at Inpatient Rehab for therapy to try and relearn how to control her body for eating, speaking, and moving. It has been a long, unexpected road and promises to continue well past Inpatient Rehab. While we continue to see progress everyday, she will need to continue with outpatient therapy, attend special schools, and use medical equipment. Ainsley is an amazing girl who continues to show her tenacity and determination with a joyful spirit through everything. We continue to pray for the day when we can see her dance, listen to her sing, and enjoy her beautiful artwork again.
However, we know it is going to take a lot of time and financial support to reach that point. Any support, whether it is a financial donation or just prayers, are greatly appreciated. All funds will go towards the outpatient therapy, medical equipment or costs associated with turning Ainsley’s setback into a comeback.
