Help Zoe fund her Co-Residency at Bunker Projects!

Donation protected

Hello friends, family, peers and patrons of the arts! I’ve recently been accepted to be a Co-Resident alongside Lou Tandon at Bunker Projects in Pittsburgh, PA for the rest of 2021. We’re both artists engaged in painting and music production practices and look forward to creating a final exhibition that showcases the work we’ve created/will create while bouncing between those two worlds. I’m seeking financial support in covering the residency costs. I will be linking my residency expense list where I’ll break down the Residency Fees, my projected food budget, and my artist’s tools wishlist. In supporting me you’re supporting my first show post graduation and my second residency ever(+ this year). Any donation amount helps and feel free to share this campaign widely.

For anyone reading this who might not know me here is my current Artist Bio:

Zoe Scruggs is a painter, music producer, and farmer based in Delaware. She produces music as Farmer Zoe and is one half of the music production duo, Zoe + Lou. Her music practice is influenced by the storytelling and medium manipulation embedded in both painting and agriculture. Her visual work uses mixed media approaches to painting that create physically layered and over-saturated works that mimic the complicated but beautiful relationship between blackness and agriculture. Her work overall is influenced by Black Feminism and Agricultural Resistance in its many definitions.

Scruggs earned her Bachelor’s in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2019. She has supported art and agriculture through working at organizations such as Harmony Homestead and Wellness, Family Agriculture Resource Management Services (F.A.R.M.S), Space on Ryder Farm, and SouthSide Community Land Trust (RI). She is a recipient of the RISD Parent Council Grant, the Florence Leif Award, the RISD Leadership and Community Engagement Fellowship, the Delaware Artist Opportunity Grant and a residency at Pioneer Works.

Information about the Co-residency at Bunker Projects:

Two artists intentionally seeking a co-residency experience together may include (but is not limited to) two individuals in collaboration on a body of work, artists who are influenced or inspired by one another, domestic or romantic partners, colleagues, friends, etc. Both individuals should be highly committed to spending the residency period immersed in their practice and loyal to the goals they set for themselves. We are seeking applicants from artists with a desire to learn and exchange with others through their art making practice while making ground breaking, ambitious contemporary art work.

Thank you for donating and if you want to support but cannot donate at this time please feel free to share this page widely! Thank you to anyone who has previously supported my art including my parents, siblings, peers, friends, the Activation Cooperative Fund, extended family, grant jurors, Etc. It truly does make a difference!
