Zelda came into the world on May 14, 2025, at 25 weeks and 3 days old. Very much a surprise to both her dad and me. We were in the hospital for almost a week before she came because I developed preeclampsia and her placenta was not functioning correctly. We were told with how small she was, measuring only 400 grams, which is only a little over 13 ounces, that the odds were not in her favor. There was a risk that she would be too small to help her breathe and that her body might just not be able to handle being on the outside. Zelda proved everyone wrong. This little girl is such a fighter, even in the womb, constantly foiling the ultrasound techs by moving so they couldn’t get the correct pictures. Now, she is constantly trying to bat the nurses away when they change her diaper or kicking off her heartbeat monitor. Her dad has not been able to work since I went into the hospital on May 8th due to my blood pressure skyrocketing constantly and threatening labor. We have run through our nest egg going back and forth an hour away to the hospital, seeing her and getting all the special equipment to help me pump to get her the food she needs. Zelda is such a fighter and has even started gaining weight, and we just need a little help so we can keep fighting for our girl.
