Hi, my name is Mehdi and I'm raising money for my partner Zasha to get a 'NightWatch+' for her nocturnal epilepsy.

Zasha was diagnosed with sleep epilepsy in 2019 following a difficult relationship which saw her have around one Tonic Clonic seizure a week throughout the duration of that relationship.

Zasha does not always know when she's had a seizure due to the nature of them - but it is believed that she has not had a serious one in over five years.

However, a recent seizure upsettingly saw her fit in front of our 10-year-old son on a family holiday. It is not known why Zasha seized after such a long time, however stress and poor sleep are known to be triggers and we think a busy family weekend and being three months postpartum may have contributed to it.

As a result of this she fell from the bed and hit her head, chin, elbow and foot as well as nasty bites on her tongue. She also lost the ability to speak immediately afterwards and had memory loss. Luckily both of which came back in the following hours.

We recently had a baby, now three months who is the absolute light of our life. After so long without any seizures, it has left Zasha with a lot of anxiety over the potential risks of fitting so severely at night when she may be by herself or I won't be around. Especially if she has the children.

We hope that by purchasing a NightWatch+ it will allow Zasha the freedom to not always need someone with her at night and allow us as a family the peace of mind that her risk of SUDEP (Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy) is reduced.

The watch is £1,295 which we are hoping to raise through fundraisers such as hikes, walks and runs over the next year as Zasha recovers. Any extra funds will be use to buy Anti-Suffocation pillows and donated to the Epilepsy Society
