Help Zak & The May's fight stage 4 cancer

"No matter where life takes me, you can find me with a smile" - Mac Miller

Zakoryan May is a walking billboard for the above quote. Life is a constant wave of ebb and flow, coming and going, breaking down and regrowth. Knowing Zak for the last 22 years, his journey started as a toddler full of joy, laughter, attitude, and an endless barrage of quotes. Growing into a man, he fortified a backpack overflowing with personality, further developing his fearlessness and leadership qualities. If you've had the pleasure of interacting with Zak, you’ve probably had a firm handshake from those frying pan hands, consistent eye contact, and coming away impressed.

He’s a kid that expects the most from himself, along with those around him. On the field, he’s excelled at numerous sports and naturally transitioned to the collegiate level. During his senior year at Art U in San Francisco, Zak engraved his name into the record books, by setting/tying the single season offensive records for RBI’s and home runs, respectively, earning 3rd Team All Pac-West, while earning All Pac-West Academic honors the year before.

During his domination within the field and the classroom, another battle was being waged within, as he started to fall ill late last year. After numerous struggles of reoccurring sickness, bedridden for days, too sick for pre-game warm ups, Zak still fought through and put on that uniform come game time. After several doctors’ appointments within the last 10 months, we finally received a recent diagnosis that is consistent with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, stage 4.

His first round of chemotherapy wasn’t scheduled to take place, but his recent scans were evaluated by the oncologist and he was admitted into the hospital right away. After going through his first chemotherapy treatments this weekend, he is finally home. Since the diagnosis, his smile is still wide, but most importantly his attitude continues to align with traits he carried as a youngster, happiness and fearlessness.

With the urgency of his medicinal needs, the only option is to do whatever it takes, whenever it must be done, to ensure this young man can make a full recovery. His facility is one of the best in the United States, but with that comes a 40-minute drive each way for inpatient and outpatient care. Between emergency room visits, follow-up appointments, and chemotherapy, the lost wages of unpaid time off work for his mother, the myriad of medical expenses are mounting.

Facing the uncertainty of expenses, Zak and the May family do NOT like asking for help, however whatever you can give to help this family dig themselves out of any current/future financial burden is an absolute blessing. This 22-year-old kid and his family deserve a break, let’s give it to them! This is simply a young man that does everything the right way, even when no one is watching. It’s time for him to be reciprocated with all the love and support our friends and family can provide. Thank you – Uncle T
