My name is Zack Davis, and I am living with sickle cell anemia—a disease that causes frequent pain crises and often lands me in the hospital. Every day is a struggle, not just because of the pain, but also because of the challenges I face in getting proper care. Too often, I am racially profiled or dismissed as someone seeking pain medication, which makes it even harder to get the help I truly need.

 I have tried to work and support myself, but even moderate activity can trigger a pain crisis. I was able to make ends meet by driving for DoorDash, but my account was recently disabled, leaving me without any income. Now, I am just days away from being homeless. I am also facing racial profiling where I live, which adds to the stress and uncertainty I feel every day.
