Hello, Hi and Good Day to all!
I'm Zach, a 32-year-young gent' from Utah, and I have a very simple goal to accomplish- To take the scant 3 years of riding experience I have and do something respectable with it; Compete in the Heavyweight Motorbike group at the 2021 Race to the Clouds at Pike's Peak, CO.
The money will go directly to completing the purchase of our bike. Once I have her purchased, I plan on starting an Instagram account where I will be documenting our journey to the win attempt- from my training sessions and track days to every performance upgrade I build into our bike
For me there is a bit of a time-crunch on this achievement- I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis at the beginning of 2020, an emerging inflammatory disease that, over time, causes some of the vertebrae in my spine to fuse irreversibly. This fusing makes my spine less flexible, generates a fair amount of pain and will eventually affect my hips, neck and shoulders as well. There is no cure at this time.
BUT, instead of focusing my energy on fighting a battle I won't win, I decided I'd rather focus on getting as much use out of this spine as I'm able before it turns into a stalactite! To this end, I could really use your help knocking down the biggest obstacle in my journey- The actual bike I'd use to attempt to break the current record, a 2018 BMW S1000 R. The bike is being sold for $13,000, and I managed to save up $4,000 personally before I lost my job to virus closures.
Ideally, with your help, I'll be picking up the title and keys to this lovely beast before Oct. 12. This gives us almost a full month of intensive ride-training before the winter forces me to take a 4 month break. During that time period I will be purchasing and installing all performance enhancements and race machinery. Once that's complete, that leaves us with just under 5 months of time to fine-tune the bike, train like a crazy person and then, compete.
Riding is an intensely important part of my life, as I know it is for many of you reading this. It helps me release and declutter mentally, it helps me to focus on enjoying the breaths I take in this life and it reminds me not be too serious. Before I lose all that permanently, I'd like to leave a legacy of my love affair for riding, with your help.
Thank you all, please be safe and God bless you for reading!
