<div>On November 25th, our sweet cat Bagheera got out into a neighbor's yard and was violently attacked by a dog. Although Sonia was able to get to her immediately and rush her to an emergency vet, she sustained major injuries to her chest and lungs.
</div>

<div>She was referred to an intensive care clinic to try and save her life - the vets and surgeon agreed she had good chances to survive and recover fully if they did emergency surgery to mend her chest wall and lungs.
</div>
<div>She was very brave and cared for by a fantastic medical team, but unfortunately her body was not able to recover well enough even with intensive care post surgery.
</div>
<div>On Thanksgiving night, we made the very difficult decision to put her to sleep so she would not spend more time in pain, stressed and disoriented in the clinic. We visited her several times and she went to sleep peacefully in our arms.
</div>

<div>We are devastated - she was the sweetest, funniest girl. She brought us together, and she had been with Zach for seven years, from the day he found her as a baby on the side of the road.
</div>

<div>Veterinary care being what it is, we had to pay thousands of dollars upfront to try and save her life. We would not have done it if she hadn't had good chances of recovering, and we do not regret trying.
</div>

<div>We really wish we were making this GoFundMe to ask for help with her recovery, and to be able to update with cute pictures of her progress. As it is we can only ask for some some support with the financial strain while we grieve.
</div>
