Help Young People Defeat Prejudice and Racism

I had the idea to start Youth Against Prejudice in June 2020, in response to the senseless murder of George Floyd. The founding principle of our organization is that young people are society’s best hope to address prejudice and racism and will be the agents of change for a better world.

Youth Against Prejudice develops programs for young people ages 12-18 that raise awareness, educate, inspire, and activate young people to become ambassadors of change to eliminate prejudice and racism.

PROGRAMS

After comprehensive research, we have based our programs around the following topics which have been proven to further the elimination of prejudice:

Education, Positive Role Models, and Cultural Diversity

Some programs show how people of diverse ethnic backgrounds work together to make something we all love, like Hip Hop music. We have presented our “History of Hip Hop” program at Vista Del Mar, a foster care facility in Los Angeles, and it has been very well received. We’re especially proud that our young participants invited their friends to take part after the first week.

Other programs give young people positive examples of heroes from a wide variety of experiences, ethnicities and backgrounds. We believe that diverse role models can inspire kids because “If I can see it, I can be it.”

We’re currently developing new programs, including a podcast hosted by young people who will interview guests with poignant questions regarding bias, diversity, and acceptance. Another focus is activism, which will teach young people a variety of ways to affect positive change in different aspects of our lives, always focusing on racism, equality, and acceptance.

FUNDRAISING GOAL

Our goal is to put on these programs in as many places, in as many different cities, with as many young people as possible.

WHY WE NEED YOUR DONATIONS

A core principle of our mission is that our programs are presented at no cost to youth participants, or the host organizations. We arrange the mentors, collaborators, and all the resources needed for these programs. We want to give as many kids as possible the opportunity to participate, regardless of financial circumstances or geographic location.
