Help Young Pastor Fight Cancer

In November of last year Pastor Tomm Gordon was about his business of pastoring The Edge Foursquare Church in Edgewood, Washington, when he noticed a lump under his arm.  As a husband, father of 2 small children, and senior pastor, Tomm had many responsibilities to tend to but wisdom said he should get this checked out.

The initial appointment called for testing and further investigation.  At the conclusion of a mammogram, X-rays, CT scans, PET scan and an eventual surgery to remove the tumor, Tomm was diagnosed with Stage 3 malignant melanoma skin cancer.

This began Tomm’s journey of 30 weekly radiation treatments as well as ongoing Opdivo (a form of chemotherapy).  The radiation treatments have been completed but now there are 2 more nodules in his chest. Another surgery is scheduled in early May.

This has disrupted the whole family. Tomm has side effects from the treatments which impair him from being the pastor he has always been.  In addition, his wife is trying to care for Tomm, the kids, and her father who has been diagnosed with cancer as well.  As you can imagine, this family’s life has been turned upside down. While facing cancer has its own challenges, having to worry about finances, as the insurance is insufficient, can be overwhelming.  For this reason, I am asking you to prayerfully consider making a contribution, large or small, to help defer the medical/living expenses that have incurred and will continue to incur during their journey.

My goal is to raise $75,000 to help this family. I have known Tomm for several years and found him to be a loving husband and father who is dedicated to sharing the gospel and living a life of humility and integrity.

How grateful the Gordon family will be for your support!

Tomm sent a video about his powerful experience in Bethel Church in Redding, California but I couldn't get it to upload. God's presence was felt in a profound way!

Here is Tomm's update from May 16, 2019:
Friends, here is a brief update (please read to the end:
Barring a major shift (positive or negative) I won't know much else until after scans sometime late in June. A positive shift would be something like a change in my facial pain & numbness. No need to share anything negative. So, for the next month or so I will continue to take my chemo pills daily, go to my checkups & wait.

As for YOU...yes, YOU...we need YOU. Sarah & I believe that the Lord is doing a healing work in me, in a process. We have had powerful men & women of God, that He has utilized to bring complete healing to people, pray healing prayer over us by the laying on of hands (Biblical approach). We have taken communion regularly, knowing that His blood brings healing. We have come into agreement with every healing Scripture we can find (reading them & praying them over me often). We have gone to churches & healing rooms for prayer.

In saying this, we are sensing Him at work in me. It is true that a funeral was being discussed just weeks ago, confirmed by big time doctors at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. I am not planning a funeral any longer, so we know God is doing something. What we are sensing is taking place is that He is doing a work in my family, drawing us to Him & each other like never before. He is causing us to rely on YOU--your prayers & your support, bringing YOU into the mix. I believe He is going to touch many of YOUR lives in this process, drawing YOU to Him in greater ways.

To conclude, we need YOU to continue to pray for me. Others have actually confirmed this in their prayers for me. Several different people have sensed that it is ALL the prayers, coming from all of US, that is stirring God to do amazing things. It isn't one person, or one church, or one prayer. It is a mix of many people, many churches & many of OUR prayers--together! PLEASE DON"T STOP PRAYING FOR ME! THANK YOU!

Friday, May 3. Update from Tomm:
Hi friends. I am feeling much better, in my body, which is so awesome!
I have 2 things I want to ask for prayer on:
1 - Side effects. I am having blurred vision and a weird eye issue (it is like autofocus on a camera).
2 - I have decided to take a trip to Bethel (a few people have so generously blessed us with the opportunity). This came after much prayer (making sure I am going there out of faith & expectation for God to move & not out of just my love for them & any dependence on Bethel over the Lord). We will go next Thursday-Sunday.
Thank you so much for your faithfulness to pray for us. I want to live. I know the meds are only a stop-gap without the Lord's intervention (through the meds or without them...but only with Him will I live a long life).

Here is the update from Tomm on Wednesday, May 1:
Hello Friends.
After last week, where I heard I have weeks to months to live (at that time), I have had so many people praying, fasting & believing for a miracle with us. As of now, here is my current update:
With prayer & the new chemo pills (& pain management pills), I have seen a great turnaround. The pills (which Fred Hutch said must work or else I have weeks to live) are working. I have a noticeable difference with shrinking of tumors & less pain. On top of that, I believe a shift is taking place in the heavenly realms, where my full healing in coming (I truly believe this).
What is next is an MRI upcoming in a week or so, to check the brain (make sure no spreading).
At the end of June I will get another full body scan (as long as the current program continues to work; if things were to get worse then plan would change). That scan will let us know if it is time to start a new immunotherapy plan (unless scan is clear of all cancer--at that point I will stop all meds & believe God to have fully healed me).
If I start that plan, the goal would be for that to start working, taking me from months to live to possible years.
As you can see, I am mixing the truth of where my body is & what the doctors want to do and what would be known as God's full healing touch on me. A true, clean scan would be nothing short of God's hand, in which I am believing is going to be the outcome. The medical way is only adding months to a short number of years (in their words), but with God it is finished!!!

Monday's Post from Tomm:
These are my scans. The brain is normal but all of the other black areas are not supposed to be there. This doesn't show true size, as the spots are a lot smaller, but it shows the quantity. I need a miracle.
