<div>Hi my name is Paul Shin and I am setting this page up for my father Yoonho Shin or as others may know him, David Shin. My father is a diligent, compassionate, and honest person who only wishes to help others around him and make them laugh. Sadly, this past Friday he suffered a hemorrhagic stroke while working and as a result became paralyzed on the right side of his body from head to toe. I write this not to beg, but to ask for the kindness of others to help my father who is the main provider for our family. I ask for anyone to reach in their heart and help us in any way you can, let it be a donation, a prayer, or sharing this with those you know and on your socials. Thank you.

<div>For almost 5 tired years now, he has been working his regular day job, and an additional second job during the night. As one of his sons, it always worried me not seeing my dad as much as I wanted to, but when I did, he was so weak and tired all the time. He loves his family and always told me that he had to work in order to support our family. Although he was often exhausted, he continuously pushed through the tiredness because he knew it would be helping the ones he loved. While he lays in his bed in the hospital, he still tells me how he has to get better in order for him to go back to work and constantly asks how others around him are doing instead. It amazes me that even though he is suffering such a traumatic and debilitating health scare, his priority is still those he loves. This always manages to put a smile on the faces of those around him.

<div>Although he was tired and working two tiresome jobs, he still found the strength on weekends to wake up as early as 6am in order to go play soccer with his friends and me. My father was always an active man who loved to play sports and engage in activities with others as much as he could. His friends would always mention that he is a kind and fun person, who always had a positive energy around him. Due to his right side being paralyzed, he is now stripped of the ability to do the things that he enjoys with the people that he loves and who love him.

<div>In order to get back to full strength, he must go through tough, lengthy and acute physical therapy after he is discharged from the hospital. Without this physical therapy, he might be paralyzed for the rest of his life.

<div>The night that this occurred, I was with him and called 911. Seeing my father like this for the first time left me shocked and worried. While he was in the emergency room, I couldn’t help but worry about his well-being, but also the cost of everything in the end. Knowing that he doesn’t have insurance to cover most of the bills, I knew that everything would be costly. We would love your help and prayers in order to restore my dad to himself. One moment that will never leave me is while he was laying in bed, he told me how much he loves me and how I should love life. I can tell that he has a strong will to get better and doesn’t want to concern the people around him too much. So as I make this page for him, please know that I am not trying to beg anyone for their money or prayer; I am just the son of a kind, hardworking, and positive father who would appreciate anything that can help his situation. The last thing I want is for finances to get in the way of his lengthy recovery, so I ask that if you’re able, please contribute any amount that you may see fit, if you can’t, I ask that you keep my father and my family in your prayers and that you please share this with those around you.

<div>거의 지금까지 5년간, 제 아버지는 낮에는 회사일 그리고 밤에는 늦은 새벽까지 두 개의 일을 해오고 있었습니다. 저는 아들로서 아버지를 자주 보고 싶어도 자주 볼 수 없었고 어쩌다 보게되는 아버지는 항상 매우 약하고 지친 상태였습니다. 아버지는 늘 가족을 사랑하셨고 가족을  위해서 더 일을 해야 한다고 말씀하셨고 사랑하는 사람들을 위해 지치고 힘들때 더 큰 힘을 내시고 이겨내셨었습니다. 병실에 누워계시면서도 정신적인 트라우마, 육체적인 고통을 뒤로하고 어떻게 하면 다시 일자리로 돌아가실 수 있을지 그리고 주변사람들의 안부는 괜찮은지 오히려 걱정하시는 모습이 저를 놀랍게 합니다. 아버지는 저를 포함한 아버지의 주변사람들에게 항상 안심을 주시려고 노력하고 계십니다.

<div>아버지는 두 개의 힘든 일을 해오시면서도 매주 일요일 아침 6시면 저와 함께 축구를 하기 위해서 운동장을 찾고 있습니다. 아버지는 항상 다른 사람들과 함께 하는 스포츠를 가능한 한 활동적으로 하면서 주변분들로부터 친절하고 재미있으며 긍적적인 에너지를 주는 사람이라는 평을 받아왔습니다. 이제 오른쪽 전신이 마비가 되어 아버지는 그런 좋은 분들과 그리고 아버지를 좋아하는 분들과 함께할 수 있는 능력이 상실되셨습니다.
