Save Yoga Pole Studio

6 years ago, Yoga Pole Studio founder Carolyn Chiu had a crazy idea. She dreamed of opening an independent yoga and dance studio, behold to no corporate interest, to service Brooklyn locals. She rented a small studio in Brooklyn Heights and spent her entire summer 2013 building the space out. People thought she was crazy because corporate gyms and yoga studios were all over downtown Brooklyn, with 5 times the space.  In the first couple months, Yoga Pole Studio opened up with 5 poles and 1 rigging point for aerial hoop.
Carolyn wanted to create the safest environment for practicing body-positive.  She believes yoga, aerial dance, and movement keeps the body balanced, minimize stress, releases anxiety, and heals mental health.

It was important students & teachers can support each other's growth. We promoted loving our own skin and growing confidence daily through practice of movement.

Carolyn built a family and home where the community can make ever lasting friendships in Brooklyn New York.

We sponsored fundraising event for Animal Haven Shelter because we love our local animal shelter.

We wrote Valentines Day card and delivered them to our local nursing  home in Boreum Hill.

The studio offers affordable aerial dance classes.

We love to host many parties because we loved celebrating life - especially birthday and bachelorette parties.

We hosted a regular schedule of classes that taught body weight exercises.

The students who committed to our 3 month program gained muscle mass, stronger posture, limber joints, and ever lasting friendships.

We held 6 week series performance workshops.

Nothing was going to stop us from having classes and workshops, not even 3 feet of snow at our door entry. Students need their class time.

Our Aerial Hoop Program continued to grow and we wanted to upgrade.

We made a huge improvement in our aerial hoop program and moved aerial classes into a ground floor warehouse providing more space horizontally and laterally for aerial classes.

We also lucked in to co-tenant with Jeffrey Gallardo Monster Jiu-jitsu Academy who supplied the wall and floor mats making it extra safe for us to train.

In the middle of March 2020, Covid crisis hits NYC Brooklyn and we are ordered to shut doors.  Since then we have backed up bills, rent, and maintenance repairs.

We're not sure if we can keep both locations running.

Carolyn applied for the PPP and got denied by her own bank. This fundraiser is her last hope to keep this business surviving.

The fundraising money  will go towards unpaid bills, rent, and repairs.

We're looking to fundraise $9,500 by the end of this month. It will help us survive another month of this pandemic.

By donating, you will be supporting a local Brooklyn business who help others get strong and healthy.  Your donation and support is greatly appreciated by the owner (Carolyn),  current teachers (Barbara, Jessie, Kristal, Gwen, and Melissa) and  community of students.
